CANTU BEAUTY & UNCF IMPACT NONTRADITIONAL HBCU STUDENTS WITH $150,000 INVESTMENT IN PROGRAMMING AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Cantu and UNCF have partnered to announce a $150,000 investment in nontraditional students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) across the country.

WHY UNCF AND NONTRADITIONAL STUDENTS? 

Nontraditional students may not have earned a high school diploma, perhaps did not enroll in college full time immediately after finishing high school, they may not be able to depend on parents for financial support and may have to work part or full time to support themselves. Nontraditional college students face unique challenges to completing their college education, primarily stemming from balancing heightened family and financial obligations. Cantu will help support these students by offering a career-readiness curated content series through UNCF this fall along with awarding scholarships to students attending the sessions.

We believe in UNCF’s mission is to build a robust and nationally recognized pipeline of under-represented students who, because of UNCF support, become highly-qualified college graduates and to ensure that our network of member institutions is a respected model of best practice in moving students to and through college.

SO, WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Nontraditional undergraduate students are a demographic not often highlighted in college brochures or highly considered when making campus-wide decisions. These students may have delayed enrollment into postsecondary education, attend college part-time, work full time, have dependents other than a spouse or are single parents. Cantu and UNCF-hosted sessions surrounding the topics of learning leadership skills, building confidence and communication skills, managing work-life balance, and maintaining overall health and wellness will aide students in developing intangible skills that need to be nurtured and strengthened outside of the classroom.

How can I join the Cantu Crew?

How old should my child be before using Cantu Care for Kids?

Your child should be at least 3 years of age + before joining the #CantuCrew!

Do you have products that could change my hair texture?

We do not have products that change the texture of your hair. We do have an awesome curl stretcher that helps elongate your curls!

Does Cantu make your hair grow?

Healthy hair growth starts with well-conditioned hair, and each of our products contains shea butter to keep hair hydrated and moisturized.

What’s the LCO method?

At Cantu we actually promote LCO instead of LOC. Using oil after the cream helps seal the moisture into the hair shaft. If you were to put cream on after the oil, it wouldn’t get absorbed into the hair.

Why does Cantu’s Custard leave white flakes in my hair?

Our Custard is an amazing product when used correctly! When you apply this product make sure your hair is clean and apply to soaking wet hair only. It’s perfect for coils and wash and go’s.

Do you have products to make my edges grow?

A woman’s edges are very delicate. You want to make sure you’re not straining the hair by pulling them up in a bun or excessive braiding. We have an amazing Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment that helps promote hair growth.

Do you test products on animals?

We do not test our final products on animals, but we do however like to test on family and friends!

Does Cantu have isopropyl alcohol in the Leave-in Repair Cream?

Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) can be drying to the hair if used on its own. This is not the case with Cantu. Our Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream has always utilized a great deep conditioning ingredient, of which IPA is a component ingredient used in only tiny amounts – less the 1/25 of a teaspoon and evaporates before it reaches your hair. Please note that our award-winning formula has not changed.

Why haven’t we seen this ingredient on the back of the jars before now?

The European Union (EU) compliance requires us to list it differently than we’ve listed before! Nothing has changed. 🙂
